Some Ideas to Consider …

  • Be Prepared for Power Outages with an Emergency Home Generator

Are you tired of power outages due to bad weather conditions? Loss of electricity for days can be very disruptive. You can avoid untimely power disruptions by installing a generator to your home. During a power outage, your generator can be set up to immediately respond and provide you with continuous electricity.

Generators come in a variety of sizes to accommodate any lifestyle. Before purchasing, decide what’s important for your general needs. The right size of generator can provide power for your refrigerator, lights, air conditioner or furnace and various kitchen appliances.

Generators can either be portable or directly connected to your home. Portable plug-in generators, which generally run on gasoline, must be placed outside while in use because they produce carbon monoxide. Portable generators can be as simple as providing an outlet for an extension cord which you connect to the desired light or appliance. A little more expensive, but far more effective, is a portable generator which gets hooked up to a pre-installed transfer switch.  Upon losing power, you manually remove connection from your commercial power and connect your generator to your transfer switch.   Depending upon the size of the generator, turn on the breakers to the equipment you want to power during the outage.

Permanent standby generators are installed outside like a central AC unit and wired directly to your home’s main electrical panel. These generators run on natural gas, propane or diesel fuel. Some systems can even be connected to your home’s natural gas line, so you’ll never have to refill fuel tanks.
