Some Ideas to Consider …

  • Make the Most of Your Porch This Spring in Fairfield County

We are so overdue for some pleasant warm weather here in New England, don’t you think? And there’s no better way to enjoy those beautiful days outside than relaxing on your porch… perhaps with a great book and a steamy cup of whatever your heart desires.

A front porch can add lots of curb appeal to the front of your home, but it’s all about how you execute it. A simple lone rocking chair just won’t do. In order to make this space comfortable and inviting, you must really play up the possibilities.

Even before guests reach your porch, it’s a good idea to make a great impression. How about lining the walkway with flowers and landscape lighting?

Now when it comes to the actual porch, comfort is key. Cushioned outdoor furniture is a must because plenty of seating is crucial for truly enjoying an afternoon outside. Don’t be afraid to mix it up though. Wooden rockers, porch swings, Adirondack chairs and ottomans are all lovely ways to add personality with conversational nooks on your porch.

For an added splash of color, think accessories! Pillows are an easy way to add color, pattern and texture to your porch decor. Outdoor rugs can also do the same. Some people also like to get extra creative by hanging fabrics and sheer curtains, transforming the porch into somewhat of an outdoor room.

You might even consider taking things a step further with an amazing ceiling fan – they certainly come in handy when it’s too muggy outside, but still a lovely day to enjoy some fresh air.
