Some Ideas to Consider …

  • New England Home Style of the Month: Georgian

Classic Georgian architecture was prevalent throughout the eastern seaboard of the United States in the mid-1700’s. These homes were known for a classic roof line, traditional proportions, and attention to symmetrical detail. Many traditional Georgian homes featured a brick exterior, an abundance of windows, and decorative elements such as pediments over the windows and elaborate rails and balusters leading up to the front door.

Elements of Georgian design can be used throughout a modern home, including:

    • Symmetry – You can incorporate symmetry into a modern home by placing the front door at the center of the home’s exterior or arranging your home’s layout so it feels symmetrical even if the room dimensions aren’t identical.
