Some Ideas to Consider …

  • Photos of a ‘Family Drop Zone’ for Your Wilton or New Canaan Home

Guess what’s lurking behind the paneled wood double doors off the elegant front foyer of the Fairfield County home you dined at Saturday night? Stuff – everything from tennis shoes Country-Club-Homes-New-Canaan-CT-fairfield-county-to tennis racquets! In modern vernacular, it’s called a ‘Family Drop Zone’.

With kids getting off the bus, a parent coming in from work and even the family pet coming through the front door – the front foyer needs a flexible design. It must be functional yet elegant; while simultaneously communicating a warm welcome to family and friends!

The contemporary solution is the Family Drop Zone located in, near or off the front foyer. It is the now the popular spot for family members (and sometimes guests) to drop shoes, coats, backpacks, laptops and more, when they arrive home. The following photos are a sampling of images from our the Country Club Homes Portfolio showing some of our ‘Drop Zone’, Mudroom and Entryway work.

While the main design criteria for the Family Drop Zone is to provide plenty of storage in a discrete way, it also must be designed to include washable surfaces all around. A few suggestions include tile flooring, wainscot on the walls or washable wall coverings which will come in handy the next time the children come in with muddy feet carrying their stuff!
