  • Tradition or Transition in the Kitchen: What Does It Look Like?

    If you’re considering home design ideas for an upcoming remodel, or if you’re tinkering with the idea of building a home from the ground up, we at Country Club Homes, Inc. think you should consider a transitional style when it comes to your new kitchen.  Whether you’re a gourmet chef or not, there are lots of ways to seamlessly blend a traditional style with a fresh clean look.

    What really makes a kitchen have a wow factor is the careful attention to detail.  A transitional look combines the warmth of traditional detailing with more contemporary clean lines.  Think through some of these details?

    • Exposed metal hinges and interesting knobs and pulls in nickel, bronze or antique brass
    • Rich wood finishes that may or may not be distressed
    • A mix of cabinets that have different finishes to add interest and warmth
    • Cabinets with decorative door inserts such as wire mesh or caning
    • Details can make or break a great kitchen, and sometimes less is more
    • Complementary countertops such as limestone and bamboo or granite and butcher block
    • Consider alternatives to granite countertops such as quartz, limestone, concrete and zinc
    • Interesting backsplashes  with niches and/or clean patterns
    • Hidden refrigerators and/or other appliances
    • And, don’t forget lighting – it can make or break a “wow” kitchen!
