Stone can work beautifully in a kitchen, as long as you keep a few things in mind.

    Many people are apprehensive about the weight of stone. It is true that sometimes heavy stone is not the best choice in some kitchens. However, you can get the look and feel of real stone with stone veneers. An advantage of these products is that they often do not need to be sealed, so they look beautiful and are easy to maintain.

    If you do choose natural stone, using it for the wall behind the stove is customary. Make sure you extend the stone the length of the wall for a finished look. With real stone, you’ll want to have it sealed about once per year so it does not absorb odors and stains.
